The end has come! Tonight i watched the second instalment of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and it felt bittersweet for me. It was hard to see the series that i grew up with reading come to an end, but it was also exciting at the same time.

I remember the first time i laid eyes on the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone book. It was 10 years ago and i was a freshman university student. I fell in love with it and the rest, as they say, was history.

I’m a big fan of the books, i’ve read all seven of them, some of them more than once. The funny thing though, i never owned any of them. I survived my Harry Potter journey with the help of my good friends who lent me their copies, hardbound or paperback! (Now, i’m planning to buy myself the whole series so i can always go back to Hogwarts whenever i desire.)

Anyway, back to the movie. First off, the kids are all grown up in the last movie. They don’t look anything like kids anymore. Neville is a full-grown man and Luna looked a lot more mature. But i am really happy to see all of the Hogwarts kids in the movie. Moving on, the movie was good but it wasn’t great. The effects were awesome but the production team definitely could’ve done better contentwise. Personally, i wished some of the scenes that made it to the final cut were not there, especially the “King’s Cross station” moment between Harry and Dumbledore. It was a bit too cheesy for my taste. And the kiss between Harry and Ginny was totally out of place. Who the heck would think of kissing in the middle of chaos? Like right in the middle of it, when everyone’s fighting for their lives? And the LOL moment of the entire flick: 19 years later!! They all looked so silly as grown ups especially Draco’s hairline and Ron’s big belly! Ginny looked extra pale as a grown up, too!

Overall, my Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows experience was good. Hogwarts and Harry will always be a part of me considering I grew up reading the books. The movies might be over but what the heck? We can always go back to Hogwarts whenever!
